"10x10 Brunswick benefits local students in a big way"

  • "In five years' time, the 10x10 art show and sale has become the primo art event of the year in Brunswick... Organizers recruited some of the best-known contemporary artists working in Maine to contribute work to the show: John Bisbee, Katherine Bradford, David Cedrone, Rebecca Goodale, Dahlov Ipcar, Sally Loughridge, Jerry Day Mason, Andrea Sulzer, Mark Wethli and Henry Wolyniec... The event itself creates quite a scene. Buyers have learned to scout their targets ahead of time, either online or at the previews. By 4 p.m., lines begin forming. When doors open, there's a rush to find a desired piece."

RAFFLE TO BENEFIT AAE

Local artist and community art activist Catherine Worthington has donated an exquisite piece of textile art for a raffle to benefit Brunswick's Arts Are Elementary program. Her piece, "View from the Rocks," is a superlative example of Catherine's hand-painted and hand stitched seascapes.

Proceeds from the raffle will go directly to the Arts Are Elementary program which provides artist-in-residence opportunities for every Brunswick elementary student. The drawing will take place at the St. Paul's Parish Hall at approximately 8 p.m. on the night of the 10x10 Event. The winner need not be present to win. Tickets are $10 each.

To learn more about the raffle and to buy tickets, go to "View from the Rocks."
